Stefan Schmidt from Germany is one of the most established guitar teachers of the present. He is part of the few experts who both develop innovative concepts for the work with small children as well as manage talented students of all ages in competitions and concerts with tremendous success. Graduating at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts under Stephan Werner (1987-91) and professor Michael Teuchert (1991-94), the guitarist repeatedly succeeded at placing his students at the top in national and international music contests. His numerous lectures about his unique concept of teaching which he performs at universities and music festivals all over Europe are well known to be booked up months in advance. Stefan Schmidt is the artistic manager of the Focus Gitarre Festival in Friedberg, Bavaria. The event not only includes a one-of-a-kind in-depth course for guitar teachers but also features a number of internationally successful guitarists and provides many activities for children and teenagers. He also teaches didactics and methodology of the guitar at Augsburg University’s Leopold Mozart Centre since 2011. In 2015 he received the prestigious acknowledgement „Friedberger Flügel“ for his artistic and pedagogical activities.
